An excellent product, high quality and rugged design.
I bought one for my energy audits at home and in clients' offices. It's so simple to use and impressive that clients want one for themselves.
Great if you want to save money on your electricity bills, reduce your greehouse gas emissions or are just inquisitive about how much power all those devices at home use. Can become addictive!

Currently using the Powermate to test a solar system and battery application, running a notebook and wireless for my business.
I need to guage power usage very carefully to size the system right with a lowest overall cost. The estimates with regular calculations are generally much higher.

After being frustrated by quarterly electricity bills that seemed too high, I decided to purchase a Power-Mate to monitor the energy usage of our household appliances. I paid via direct deposit and was delighted to receive the Power-Mate the next working day.
The instructions were easy to follow and within minutes I had entered the kilo-Watt hour rate charged by my local electricity supplier (I found this on a recent bill).
My first test was to see the energy usage of my computer’s monitor in "standby" mode. Power-Mate calculated the cost at $8.52 per year. As for my computer, I was amazed to see that it continued to use power EVEN WHEN IT WAS COMPLETELY SWITCHED OFF!
I can already appreciate how useful the Power-Mate is going to be and am keen to check more appliances... I suspect the combined effect of the standby modes of our TV's, DVD Player, VCR, Stereo, Microwave Oven, Computers, etc, will be quite significant.
Testing our Clothes Dryer, Heater & Dishwasher will reveal the true cost of using these items too frequently. I'll also be using the Power-Mate to test our future appliance purchases, to be sure I'm happy with their energy usage.
This product is exceptional and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in saving money, helping our environment, or even if you are just curious about the power you use around the house.
